Text Me is an app that provides users with free phone numbers so that they can immediately send texts and make calls for free via an internet connection. All phone numbers are virtual and entirely anonymous, making the app a great choice for anyone looking for privacy and security in a communication service. Because of its private and somewhat secretive nature, it is not recommended that children use the app in any way.

How Text Me Works

Text Me is a VoIP (voice over internet protocol) service that essentially allows users to communicate with others using an active internet connection. That means that even if your phone does not have active wireless service with a network provider, you can still send texts and make calls as long as you are connected to a wireless network with internet access.

There are options and features available for those looking to stay in contact with friends and family internationally. Rates associated with international calls and texts are financed with "credits;" a special type of currency used in Text Me that can either be purchased or earned for free by completing easy tasks.

Text Me comes loaded with a wide range of features that you would expect from any quality communication app. Start a group chat, send an SMS or MMS text, make a phone call, and even attach stickers and emojis to messages. You can also customize your very own signature to automatically affix to your messages, set customized ring and text tones, and personalize the background of the app's user interface. There is also added compatibility for other popular communication apps like Google Voice, TextFree, TextNow, and Talkatone.

One glaring issue that Text Me has is a strong presence of bugs and glitches that have mostly gone unaddressed up to now. Additionally, the app contains lots of intrusive advertising, and it even seems at times that the advertising slows the app down considerably, especially on older devices. You can also only sign up for Text Me using your Google or Facebook account, and some might not feel comfortable with that.

Communication App with Promise

If you can look past the in-app adverts and somewhat buggy functionality, there is a lot to appreciate in Text Me. You can still get a phone number entirely for free, send and receive texts and phone calls, and even participate in group chats. If Text Me received a QoL (quality of life) update that addressed its instability and advert problem, there's no doubt it would be one of the most revolutionary communication apps to date.
